2016 General Assembly Meeting was successfully held in Shanghai

The AWCCA 2016 General Assembly Meeting was held in Shanghai on the afternoon of Sept. 25th, 2016.

Distinguished guests from the Cable and Wire Associations of mainland China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Taiwan China attended the meeting. The chairmen group reviewed activities from 2015~2016 and discussed the 2017 working plan. One of the milestones identified in 2015 was the completion of AWCCA Technical Specifications for three products: Submarine Cables, Cables for Wind Turbines and Cables for PV Generation Systems.

The AWCCA Technical Specifications were jointly developed by all the Founder Members, with comments from each members being considered during the content development process.

Currently, there are no International Standards covering the three products listed. In the future, the completed AWCCA Technical Specifications can be used as a basis for standards for all Founder Members. It can be utilized when they engage in the trade of such products in the region. The new content is not in conflict with IEC standards but reflects the requirements for applications in Asian countries.

The AWCCA Technical Specifications development is an excellent manner to utilize a collaborative model.  In the future, we foresee it enabling enhanced interaction and communication along with best practice and technical expertise sharing for all interested parties in the region.

On Sept. 26th, the AWCCA Group visited the Wire China 2016 exhibition together. The exhibition is the biggest of its kind in China’s cable and wire industry. The visit allows representatives to better understand market trends, innovation and developments in R&D in China.

The 2017 AWCCA General Assembly Meeting is planned to be held in HCMC, Vietnam.
