The Formal Establishment of Asian Wire and Cable Industry Cooperation Alliance (AWCCA) in Shanghai

On September 26, 2012, the Electric Cable and Wire Branch of the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association (CEEIA-ECWB), International Copper Association (ICA), Indonesian Cable and Wire Manufacturer Association (APKABEL), Malaysia Cables Manufacturers Association (MCMA), Ho Chi Minh City Electric Cables Association (HECA) and Taiwan Electric Wire and Cable Industries Association (TEWCA) jointly established the Asian Wire and Cable Industry Cooperation Alliance (AWCCA) in Shanghai. The first Chairman was Mr. Wei Dong, who was the Director of the Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute (SECRI). Mr. H. Noval Jamalullail, President of APKABEL, was appointed as the Secretary-General, and Ms. Jessie Lei, the Regional Manager of Electrical Safety & Connectivity Program for the International Copper Association (ICA), worked as the Deputy Secretary-General. The Secretariat is located in SECRI.


As stipulated by the Asian Wire and Cable Industry Cooperation Alliance Charter, with an aim to promote exchanges and communication among wire and cable industry associations, social groups and institutions, as well as wire and cable manufacturing enterprises in Asian countries or regions, AWCCA strives to enhance the production technology of wire and cable manufacturing enterprises, learn the successful experience from advanced countries and regions, keep up with international advanced technologies and standards, improve the standards and specifications of wire and cable products of each member (country/party), and strengthen the information sharing of market investment among members. The cooperative organization will assist the wire and cable industry associations of its members (country/party) to organize technology exchanges, communication and training activities among members or manufacturing enterprises, and seek support from technical consultants for activity organization to jointly promote the sustainable development of the wire and cable industry in Asia.
