Jointly initiated by the Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute (SECRI) and the International Copper Association (ICA), in September 2012, the Asian Wire & Cable Industry Cooperation Alliance (AWCCA) was established as an informal industry organization cooperating with the cable industry associations of various countries and regions in Asia after four years of preparation and planning.


So far, AWCCA has six founder members, the Indonesian Cable and Wire Manufacturer Association (APKABEL), Electric Cable and Wire Branch of the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association (ECWB-CEEIA), Ho Chi Minh City Electrical Cables Association (HECA), International Copper Association (ICA), Malaysia Cable Manufacturers Association (MCMA) and Taiwan Electric Wire & Cable Industries Association (TEWCA). Besides, there are four affiliated (corporate) members, the All-Russian Scientific Research and Development Cable Institute (JSC «VNIIKP») as the initiator of the Cable and Wire Manufacturers "International Association" (IA Intercable), Guangdong Dongguan Quality Supervision and Testing Center (DQT), Hebei Huatong Wires and Cables Group Co., Ltd (HT Cable) and Sigma Cable Co (Pte) Ltd in Singapore.


With an aim to promote exchanges and communication among wire and cable industry associations, social groups, and institutions, as well as wire and cable manufacturing enterprises in Asian countries or regions, AWCCA strives to enhance the production technology of wire and cable manufacturing enterprises, learn the successful experience from advanced countries and regions, keep up with international advanced technologies and standards, improve the standards and specifications of wire and cable products of each member, and strengthen the information sharing of market investment among members. The cooperative organization will assist the wire and cable industry associations of its members to organize exchanges, communication, and training activities among members or manufacturing enterprises, and seek support from technical consultants for activity organization to jointly promote the development of the wire and cable industry in Asia.
